Routine adult
Recombinant hepatitis B vaccine. A 3-dose series (0, 1, 6 months) is the adult standard. Healthcare workers, people with diabetes, and those at occupational or household risk are priority groups.
Who should get it
- Healthcare, laboratory, and first-responder workers
- People with diabetes, chronic liver or kidney disease, or HIV
- Household or sexual contacts of people living with hepatitis B
- Unvaccinated adults who want protection
Who should wait
- Moderate/severe acute illness — defer
Contraindications
- Anaphylaxis to a previous hepatitis B vaccine dose or yeast (where relevant)
Precautions
- Pregnancy is not a contraindication to recombinant Hep B — still screen and document
